I started James River Animal Hospital in 1985. I really enjoy working with a wide variety of pets, including dogs, cats, birds, reptiles, rabbits and many other exotic pets. I truly believe pets are part of your family and I strive to deliver the best care I can.

I have been working at JRAH for over 10 years, and WOW, how time flies when you enjoy your work! My greatest satisfaction, as a veterinarian, comes from educating pet parents about how to care for their animals.

Outside of work, I enjoy writing and performing music. I am a mommy to 2 little girls. I have 2 dogs. I love to help animals and people so this is the best of both worlds for me.

Jonova edit 2
Hello, my name is Jonova. I’ve always have had a passion for animals and the arts....which has driven me to get a degree in both fields (biology and the arts). I’ve been in the animal field for more than a dozen years. I enjoy making art, acting, exploring nature, and spending quality time with my family (especially my grandmother.) I am married, I have 4 wonderful kids, and a pack of dogs (lol, don't judge). I am pleased to be your pet's beauty consultant and a part of James River's team.

I have a Wildlife Biology degree and an Aquarium Science Certificate. Even though I’ve focused on the marine side of things, I love all animals. When I’m not at work, I might be training my three dogs, creating dog videos for my YouTube channel, playing piano, or over-analyzing movies with my family. I’m also a pet therapy volunteer with my certified therapy dog, Toto (the schnoodle). We visit hospice centers, nursing homes, schools, and libraries to offer cuddles to anyone who needs them. I’m excited to get to know all of your pets and help you meet their needs.

Emily: I'm a photographer and cinematographer.
~ What is your favorite part of the job?
Emily: I am constantly learning something new and I love the variety of animals I see. No 2 days are the same.

I was born and raised right here and I've been a vet tech since 2005.  I love camping, horseback riding, motorcycles, and taking my dog kayaking. I love to knit in my spare time, especially premie hats for donation.

I've loved animals since I was 3 years old.  My passion is to continue to learn different measures used to help species diversity, but also encounter as many as humanly possible to share that love to younger generations.

I have worked at the clinic since 2005, and love working with animals!  It is always interesting, you never know what will show up each day.  This is a very challenging job and very rewarding all at once.
